Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

I worked within the VFX department at Leavesden Studios on this show. The job entailed creating all of the built sets and VFX extensions (shown in green). I built the vast amount of the buildings for the New York and Berlin scenes and many more you can see below. Once approved they were then sent off to VFX studios to be used as finished assets or as reference for them to create the final shots.

New York

The built set for the New York scenes in the film. The grey sections were built on the backlot at Leavesden and the green sections are VFX extensions that I created to give the team a sense of scale and what would be seen in camera.

Berlin

The built set on the backlot at Leavesden and the VFX set extensions looking up each street. The main set was re-dressed many times throughout the shoot. The examples below show the different VFX extensions.

Cafe

Here, I built the entire cafe set, with VFX extension, from Art Department plans and Lidar scans.

Hogwarts Main Hall

More set extensions created to show the Director and DOP what they would see through the camera lens before the scene was filmed.

Berlin Ministry of Magic

Another set built on the backlot at Leavesden. The grey section is the physical set and the green is the VFX extension.

Hogsmeade Inn

The built set of the Inn, with the VFX set extensions, to show the placement of Hogsmeade.

Moonhill

I cleaned up Lidar scans of the main waterfall set which was built on the backlot at Leavesden. The surrounding mountains and valleys were created in Maya and Zbrush to show the scale and what would be seen in camera.

Nurmengard

More set extensions created to show the Director and DOP what they would see through the camera lens before the set was built.
